You have to buy the casing individually, mine cost about £5. It works out a lot cheaper buying the casing and the eyeshadows in pans, because we all know how expensive MAC eyeshadows are! The case is very compact and sleek, so perfect for throwing into your handbag without taking up a huge amount of space. The casing has a magnetic closure.
Top left-hand corner is Ricepaper. Top right-hand corner is my much loved Satin-Taupe. Bottom Left is Brule. And bottom right is Espresso. Here are my swatches. I had to do them on paper as my camera was awful at picking up the colour on my hand:
Now for my thoughts:
Ricepaper:
Ricepaper eyeshadow is described as a 'frost' finish and is described by MAC as 'peachy gold with shimmer'. I, however, feel it's more yellow/nude toned than gold as such. I think this is a beautiful neutral colour, a great staple product for the makeup bag. Furthermore, the versatile ability of this product really attracts me to it. It's perfect to use as a base colour, as well as a gorgeous highlighting colour because of the shimmer, but the shimmer is not too overpowering, just leaves you with a beautiful glow.
Brule:
Brule is another lovely neutral colour. However, I tend to use this more over the lid as I find it is the perfect base coat for applying eyeshadow and suits my skin tone perfectly. I feel this eyeshadow is more peachy toned than Ricepaper, much more of a natural skin colour. Brule isn't too shimmery, nor to matte - the perfect base eyeshadow.
Espresso:
Espresso is the colour that I use to fill in my eyebrows as it is a matte brown colour. I find that this is the perfect colour to use for them - not to harsh or dark for my hair colour, or too light. It does a perfect job of making them look full and neat. However, sometimes I use it in the crease after using a colour such as 'Brule' and blend it out and it looks lovely for natural makeup, but i'm not a huge fan of using matte eyeshadows in the crease. Saying that, it is a great staple, versatile colour.
Satin Taupe:
Definitely saving the best till last. Satin Taupe is the favourite out of my collection of MAC eyeshadows and surely one of the most raved about MAC eyeshadows of all time. It is described as a 'taupe with silver shimmer', however I find it slightly darker as it has 'mauve' undertones to it. The texture is beautifully velvety and blends amazingly. I love to use this colour for a soft day-time smokey eye over a base such as 'Naked Lunch' or 'Brule' by MAC. A totally brilliant eyeshadow!
